About NoAV.online

Websites without Age Verification

The UK Government has passed a law that forces the operators of "user to user" and "adult" services to deploy "highly effective age assurance" against all visitors from the UK.

The law prevents people from accessing of wide range of material unless they prove their age. The side effect is that it may be possible for the websites & snakeoil AV vendors to know who is visiting what websites.

Rather than trust the snakeoil vendors who claim that their product respects your privacy it is probably safer to use alternative websites that don't require you to identify who you are in the first place.

This website aims to collate a list all manner of websites that don't require their visitors to submit to age verification. Over time we may see websites fall victim to enforcement action.

What can we do?

Users of NoAV.online can submit new websites as well as vote and comment on any website already listed on the site.

Registration is free, you do not need to submit any identifying information, and we recommend using Tor when browsing the Internet.

Why do we need to register?

First and foremost you do not need to register to find websites that don't need AV. But if you want to add information then registration helps;

  • To reduce write load on the database
  • To make things a smidge more difficult for spammers.
  • To make it a little easier to clean up off-topic comments

What are the long term goals?

Hopefully this website will perform two functions;

  • Surface websites that don't require age verification to use
  • Chart over time which websites (and if we add tagging/classification) when which classes of websites have added age verification

This information could be useful to measure the impact and history of this 'chilling effect'.

Why is this website purple?

It was written on a MNT Pocket Reform - a small, fully opensource 'pocket' laptop which comes in a stunning purple color!
